God Bless the Heartland

Home of the fundamental American workers and the small-town values. They're so intelligent.

McCain has let the Pandora out and less than three weeks isn't enough for him to begin to figure out how to get it back in. Now, if the American media would just grow a pair and show comments like these...

This is priceless. It's this kind of voter (for instance the woman who was yelling baby killer out the window at the Obama supporter) that clings to one idea (for instance the woman talking about Muslims and 9-11) whom could care less about the real issues facing our country. And those issues most definitely have nothing to do with the color of Obama's skin, or the fact that he is pro choice. Get over yourselves. Obama is anti-white huh? That comment wreaks of ignorance if ever a comment has.
Of course that should be "reeks of ignorance". Kinda funny that I should misspell a word as I am talking about the intelligence of others.

OMFG.

I'm writing this roughly 12 hours or so after Obama won. If I'd seen this two days ago, I would have winced, just as I did watching the clip now, but I would also have worried just that little bit more. Would we be able to rise above our lowest common denominator and begin recovering from this 40-year nightmare that came within the finest hairsbreadth of, if not destroying the country, at least permanently twisting it into a parody of itself, into a place where the despotic rule by law supplants the rule of law of free men and the cynicism of divisive manipulation overcomes the power of the human spirit? We came SO close.... but thank goodness we pulled back.

Has the damage been repaired in one fell swoop? Of course not. Can we solve our problems by working together instead of triangulating each other out of meaning?

Yes. We. Can.
I think it is time for a new post! This has been up long enough! :)
Are you kidding Mom? Travis doesn't know there's more on the Internet now that Twitter has taken over!!
Lumping any group of people together is just as ignorant as the views in the video.

I can find just as many stupid people here in California as I could growing up in Iowa. The heartland produces much more than the ignorant rednecks shown in the video... Marc Andreessen being a very relevant example.

Racism and ignorance are not 'small-town values', they are a product of small-minds, group think, and viral fear.

Ohio went blue regardless of these nutjobs, so at the very least people like this are in the minority.
